Originally created for the Jagannath Temple, this craft was used to design ceremonial umbrellas, flags, and chariot coverings during grand festivals like the Rath Yatra.
Appliqué involves cutting and layering fabric shapes—like elephants, peacocks, flowers, and traditional symbols—onto a contrasting base fabric, then meticulously hand-stitching each piece into place.
