Handcrafted Handloom Fabric Wear from Artisan Weavers Across India
Handloom and hand-painted textiles carry the pace and patience of the hand that made them. This collection brings together Taalapatra's handcrafted fabric wear, from sarees and unstitched dress material to men's shirts and jackets. Every piece is 100% handcrafted and ethically sourced directly from artisan communities across India. There are no factory lines behind our collections, only looms and brushes held by craftspeople who have inherited their art across generations.
Silk Sarees
Sambalpuri silk sarees are woven in the Sambalpuri tradition of Sambalpur, Bargarh, Sonepur, Boudh and Balangir districts, Odisha (India). The threads are resist-dyed before weaving, which creates the patterns that define the tradition. Motifs such as Shankha (conch), Chakra (wheel) and Phula (flower) carry symbolism rooted in Odia culture and temple traditions. The Sambalpuri weaving tradition holds a GI tag, which recognises its regional origin and its methods.
Bandha sarees carry ikat patterns in the border and pallu, while Body Bandha sarees carry ikat across the full body of the saree. Tussar and mulberry silk sarees sit within this range, chosen for weddings, festivals and heirloom gifting.
Cotton Sarees
Handwoven cotton sarees offer the same weaving heritage in a lighter, more breathable fabric. They suit daily wear, the office and festive gatherings, and they are made for comfort across seasons while keeping the character of a handloom weave.
Khadi Sarees
Khadi is handspun on the charkha and handwoven, a Swadeshi tradition rooted in self-reliance. The fabric softens with every wash, and its texture reflects the hand that spun and wove it.
Pattachitra Hand-Painted Sarees
Pattachitra dates to the 12th century and is practised in Raghurajpur/Puri district, Odisha (India). Chitrakar families paint mythological and folk narratives using natural colours made from minerals, plants and lamp soot. On a saree, the tradition becomes wearable art, painted by hand and carried into daily life and celebration.
Unstitched Dress Material
Unstitched dress material gives you the freedom to tailor a silhouette to your own style. Handwoven fabrics carry the same ikat patterns and handloom texture found in sarees, ready to become a kurta, a suit or a design of your own.
Men's Shirts and Jackets
Handwoven shirts and jackets bring handloom fabric into modern menswear. Woven on traditional looms, they suit festive occasions, the office and everyday wear, and each carries the texture and character of a handloom weave.

What is Khadi?
Khadi is handspun on the charkha and handwoven, a Swadeshi tradition of self-reliance. The fabric softens with every wash.
How are Pattachitra sarees made?
Pattachitra sarees are painted by hand by Chitrakar families, using natural colours made from minerals, plants and lamp soot.
Why do handmade textiles differ slightly from the photographs?
Every piece is woven or painted by hand, so small variations in colour, texture, weave, brush strokes and finish are the signature of a human hand. Handloom fabrics also carry natural slubs. No two pieces are identical. Read our Disclaimer before purchase.
How do I care for handloom and hand-painted fabrics?
Care depends on the fabric and the craft. Please refer to the Care Guide on the individual product page for specific care instructions.
Can I place a bulk or custom order?
Yes. For bulk orders, corporate gifting or custom requirements, please fill up this form or reach out to us directly and we will be happy to help.
